Rani Mukerji's Aiyyaa song goes viral on web

Rani Mukerji’s item number Aga Bai from her forthcoming film, Aiyyaa, where she is doing a sensuous belly dance, has gone viral within a week of going online. Surprisingly the song got a million hits (10 lakh) faster than even Kareena Kapoor’s popular Halkat Jawani number from Heroine. At the time of going to press, the song had already got 1,006,667 views. ‘Halkat jawani’ (now with 1,280,679 views) took 10 days to touch the million mark.

Rani reacts, saying, “I’m overwhelmed by the response. When I see such positive reactions, it makes me very happy. People are calling and messaging, describing the dance with terms like ‘adbhut’, ‘unbelievable’ and ‘mind-blowing’.”

The actor has three dance numbers in the film. About the popularity of this particular belly-dance track, she says, “I love the fact that people are going crazy over such songs. I have always wanted to learn this dance form.” The actor trained for four months before she shot for the video. Director Sachin Kundalkar says, “The song is a visual treat and it’s amazing to see the kind of response it has garnered in less than a week.”

Produced jointly by Anurag Kashyap and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the film marks the Bollywood debut of Marathi director Sachin.  Aiyyaa is a bold film that shows how a man is seen as an object of desire by a woman. South actor Prithviraj plays the lead opposite Rani.
